How to Add Google Analytics 4 Measurement Protocol API to TapMango

Why Add the Google Analytics 4 Measurement Protocol API?

If you're already using Google Tag Manager (GTM) to track your TapMango Online Ordering, you can now supercharge your analytics by adding the Google Analytics 4 Measurement Protocol API! 
While GTM tracks what happens in your customers' browsers, the Measurement Protocol API adds server-side tracking that works behind the scenes—meaning it can't be blocked by ad blockers or browser settings.

Here's what this means for you:

• More accurate conversion tracking – Every order completion and transaction gets sent directly from TapMango to your Google Analytics
• No more missed orders – Even if a customer closes their browser right after ordering, you'll still capture that data

Quick note: This guide assumes you've already added a Google Tag Manager APP ID to your TapMango account. If you haven't added your GTM Container ID yet you can add it at the same time as the API secret in step 8.

Generating the API secret

First you'll need to generate an API secret if you haven't already. Log into your account at https://analytics.google.com/analytics and go to your Google Analytics 4 Property to generate a new API secret key.

1. Once logged in, click ⚙️ Admin located at the bottom-left of the webpage

   

2. On the Admin page from under Data collection and modification select Data streams

   

3. Once the page loads depending how many data streams you have influences how you'll proceed:

   • If there's only 1 data stream, it will appear automatically. Click on the available Data stream to open the details.

     

   • If there are multiple, filter by 'Web' to find your website's data stream. Click on the available Data stream to open the details.

4. Scroll down the details page to find and select Measurement Protocol API secrets

   

5. On the next window click Create to generate a new API secret
   • You'll be prompted to add a nickname; this can be anything and doesn't affect the key. 
     We recommend 'TapMango Online Ordering' to allow you to identify the API secret quickly.

6. Click the icon to copy the API secret you created; continue to the next step of the guide to add it to your TapMango account

   

Adding the API secret to TapMango

Now the API secret generated in the previous section can be added to your TapMango account; log into your account at https://www.portal.tapmango.com

7. From the left-hand menu click the Settings dropdown menu and select Advanced Settings

8. On the Advanced Settings page select Online Ordering from the left-hand menu; Then scroll down to Google Analytics Measurement API Secret to add the API secret you copied earlier

   

9. Finally scroll down and click Save to save the API secret to your account and start receiving data from TapMango.
