What is 3D Secure?
For extra fraud protection with online payments, Square offers their merchants a feature called Risk Manager (as seen in below screenshot). Risk Manager is a tool that helps you spot and manage potential fraud from online payments that are processed through Square. Once enabled, this will apply to the TapMango Online Ordering payments & any online/app wallet loads that are processed through Square!
Verification of Payment
Most of the time, customers will be able to go through the checkout process with no change to the flow. If a payment meets the criteria to trigger 3D Secure, the customer will see one of the following:

A request for the one-time passcode sent via text message (SMS) or email.

A request for a biometric scan (fingerprint or face ID on their phone).

A redirection to their card-issuing bank.
How to Set up 3D Secure
Before we set anything up on our side, you will need to set up rules in your Risk Manager tool. A rule allows you to choose what happens to a payment if a specific condition is met - it can trigger a risk alert or decline a payment.

If you are already using Risk Manager and have rules set up to trigger 3DS for your desired locations, then just let us know and we'll do the rest!
FAQ/Troubleshooting
Is there an extra charge for this feature?
TapMango does not charge anything to enable this feature. Square merchants will pay the regular 2.9% + 30 ¢ plus an additional fee of $0.06 USD per transaction for the use of Risk Manager. These fees are imposed by Square and may be subject to change. Please make sure to confirm with Square before proceeding!
Help, I'm getting an error!
You may see the below error when attempting to enable 3D Secure for some locations:
You will also see this error in grey next to a specific location name:
In order to resolve this error, you will just need to try to place an order with incorrect credit card information through your TapMango online ordering page for the location that requires verifyBuyer.
Once that's done, you should be able to select the location and apply the rule to that location!
