Applying TapMango Rewards to Sales
| Important: TapMango discounts can only be mapped as overall % or $ discounts in Square. If you'd like to apply a discount to a specific product, you will have to apply it directly to the item. |
Selecting TapMango Rewards in Square
| Important: Square displays all mapped TapMango rewards to cashiers, even if a customer doesn't have those rewards on their account. This can trigger fraud alerts if a cashier accidentally applies the wrong discount. To prevent this, cashiers must verify available rewards on the TapMango tablet before applying any discounts. |
Attaching Customers From TapMango Tablet
If you will be using the TapMango tablet to sign customers in and attach them to Square sales, this section is for you!
This is a simpler way of adding points that requires you to have one TapMango tablet per Square register/device.
Step 1: Ask Customer to Sign into TapMango TabletThe customer can sign in before or during the sale. What's important is that they sign in before you proceed to payment. There are three ways a customer can sign in to the tablet:
*TapMango Account requires a mobile app. |
Step 2: Start Sale as NormalStart your sale as normal by adding the desired items to the customers cart. |
Step 3: Apply Discount to Sale① Check the customer-facing tablet to confirm the name of the discount and whether it's a voucher or reward. ② Tap Discounts on the Square register and select the corresponding TapMango discount from the list. You can choose to apply the discount to the entire sale or to an individual product:
|
Step 4: Complete the SaleProceed as normal to accept payment and complete the sale. Once the sale is complete the tablet will automatically sign the customer out and post the sale details to the customer's profile history; including total spend, total spend eligible for points, how many points were earned, and if any discounts were used. As long as your TapMango customer was checked in to the paired TapMango tablet at the time of payment, your customer will receive the points shortly after the sale finishes. |
Things to Consider
Ensuring Your Customer Remains Signed In
It's required customers remain checked in to the TapMango tablet until the payment is processed.
The customer tablet will sign customers out after a period of inactivity - the default time is 2 minutes.
If you have a longer sales process or chatty customers, you can increase your TapMango tablet time-out with the following steps:
- Sign into http://portal.tapmango.com
- Navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings > General
- Change the value in the 'Tablet Session Timeout (seconds)' field to be the length of time you want.
-
Click save at the bottom to save your changes.
Attaching Customers Directly From Square
If you maintain customer profiles in Square and do not want to use a TapMango tablet to sign customers in, this section will be for you.
|
Note: This method does not create the same type of customer profiles as credit card purchases. This method will create and manage customers in your Square customer directory. See this page on square's help site for more information on square customer directory management. |
Step 1: Start a Sale with a Square Customer Attached① Start a sale as normal ② On the checkout section of your Square POS app, select 'No Sale' ③ Select 'Add Customer' ④ Search for your customer or create a new one ⑤ Select 'Add to Sale' to proceed as normal |
Step 2: Finish up the Sale as Normal⑥ With the customer profile attached, proceed to finish the sale as you normally would (scan items, etc.) |
Things to Consider
Issuing Rewards
Mapped TapMango discounts will still appear in Square without a tablet, but you'll need to verify the customer has the discount through another method - such as searching their profile in Portal on a computer, using the desktop TapMango app, or a virtual browser app
Creating Customer Profiles
When a customer registers in TapMango, their profile can automatically sync to your Square customer directory using the same phone number and email. This saves you from manually creating Square profiles for every customer.
Capturing SMS Consent
You will not be able to capture SMS consent when customer profiles are created in Square directly. SMS consent can only be captured when customers register directly with TapMango.
