What Is Generic POS?
Generic POS is what TapMango refers to as the ability to take exported sales data from a point of sale system that we do not offer a direct integration with. This is also known as Flat File integration.
How Does Generic POS Work?
Flat File Upload
Once the integration has been setup, you will be able to upload a spreadsheet file to the TapMango portal. The sales will be processed and applied to customer accounts as if they were straight from the POS System.
Customer Data
The Generic POS integration will not work without customer data in the POS. We need to know who a sale should belong to. Without this information we cannot accurately process sales.

The following Generic POS types are supported:

Each POS type has different field requirements for their import file. You can reach out to your account manager or TapMango support for details on your requirements.
If you do not have one of the above POS systems, we may still be able to build a Generic POS integration for you. You will need to make a request with your account manager so that they can assign a developer to review your case.
Processing Sales
Once the integration is setup, processing sales data is as simple as uploading a file.
Testing
Before the integration goes live, we will need to do a test transaction to make sure things are working correctly.
It would be best if you uploaded a small file with a limited number of sample sales to make the test run quickly. The system cannot choose a small batch of sales from the file and will process all sales.
Uploading A File
- Navigate to Portal > Customers > POS Transactions
- Select the "Import" button in the top right > import your sales file > click Upload
- The sales will begin processing right away and show proper status indications
Validating The Sale
Once the sales are processed, they will show up in TapMango customer history data. You can either click on a customer from the list of transactions or navigate to Customers > Customer List and select the customer from there.
FAQ
Duplicate Sales Data
If the same sales are uploaded we will ignore them and consider them duplicate sales.
Rewards & Vouchers
Generic POS integration does not support reward redeeming and this must still be done manually in TapMango.
Automatic External ID & Tablet Barcode
Generic POS integration is unique in that we can both automatically create an ExternalID for the customer who signs up in TapMango AND display a barcode of that number (linear barcode) on the Tablet's cashier side.
The purpose of this is so cashiers can create new customer profiles from a barcode number.
The cashier can flip the tablet to the admin screen after a new customer signs up or signs in to scan the barcode and create a new customer/bring up the customer in the POS easier.
