This article is to help address any charging issue you may have with your tablet. If the tablet just shuts off while in use this is very likely the tablet not charging, or not charging well enough and losing power when the battery reaches 0%.
If you're having difficulty turning the tablet on at all please see the article about when the tablet will not turn on.
Here are the reasons, and solutions your tablet could be losing a charge while in use, and eventually shutting off.
Use the cable and charging block provided
- The TapMango tablet should have been provided with a charging cable and charging block
- This should be used to ensure the tablet is receiving a proper charge while in use
- This charging block should be connected to an outlet
- Not all USB cables and charging blocks will charge the same way on every device
Please contact TapMango Support if you do not have the original cable and charger
Do not charge off a Point of Sale / Computer USB Port
- The USB port on a computer or point of sale machine will not put out enough power to charge the tablet while it is in use
- Most USB ports on computers and point of sale machines will charge the Tablet at roughly 1/4 the speed the provided charging block
If you must charge off the USB port of a computer or point of sale we strongly recommend that the tablet is turned off every night and turned on in the morning, in order to ensure 100% charge. Even in this case we cannot ensure the tablet will remain online 100% of the time - the tablet is not designed to charge this way.
Check that the cable isn't loose
- If the cable is loose it may appear to be charging but not be providing enough power
- Check that the part of the cable going into the block that connects to the outlet isn't loose
- When in doubt unplug the cable from the tablet, then plug it back in.
- Sometimes the cable may accidentally be bumped, or pulled. Usually this is a customer. It happens sometimes and that's okay.
Please contact TapMango Support if you find the cable isn't connecting properly, or is falling out.
Make sure the outlet isn't the problem
- It's possible the outlet the charging block is connecting to could be the issue
- If using a power bar first try a different outlet on the power bar and see if the issue keeps happening
- If directly connected, or you've tried a different outlet on the power bar try a different outlet
- Make sure that your building's power is on all the time - some buildings shut the power off after closing hours, to cut down on the power bill. This is perfectly reasonable but if the tablet is left on, can result in a dead tablet in the morning.
Check the table for damage
- Check along the cable itself for any damages such as split plastic or exposed wire
- Also check that there is no damage to the part of the USB port that goes into the tablet
If you notice ANY damage to the cable please stop using the cable. Not only is this a safety hazzard, it could potentially cause damage to the tablet. If this is the case please take a photo of the cable and send it to support@tapmango.com and with the subject damaged usb cable for TapMango tablet. Include your business name, and best contact number or email. You may also contact TapMango Support directly as well.
Check the tablet for physical damage
- Look to make sure the tablet isn't physically damaged along the sides
- If you notice the back is separated, first try and 'push' it back in (the back can come off)
- Check for cracks or warping as well
- Make sure there is no dirt or dust inside the USB port - compressed air will work well to clean this, or you can be very careful with a toothpick to clean it out
If there is physical damage please a photo of the damaged area and send it to support@tapmango.com and with the subject damaged TapMango tablet. Include your business name, and best contact number or email. You may also contact TapMango Support directly as well if you've tried the steps above and continue to have issues.
