What is Merging And Why would I want to Merge Accounts?
Merging accounts means you are combining two customer accounts together into one. Reasons you may want to merge accounts together, of course being the owner of your rewards program - this is at your discretion.
- A customer signed up twice without realizing
- A customer signed up on the Application, but did not use the same contact information as in-store
- Two customers wish to start earning points collectively (friends, family, partners, etc)
- One customer wishes to give away their account.
- A customer accidentally registered a gift card as a new customer instead of redeeming it
What happens when two accounts are merged?
Merging, of course, involves two accounts:
Destination: The destination account is the customer you want to retain, and will start with.
Source: The source account is the customer you want to remove, and will select second.
When merging two customers the destination customer will take the points, lifetime point, wallet balance, and active vouchers.
If the destination customer has no email, or phone number that information will be taken as well.
The customer history of the source customer is lost, and the record will be deleted from your account.
How do I merge two accounts?
On the tablet it's very simple.
- After a customer has checked in bring the tablet to the cashier side (or search for a customer on the cashier side)
- This will be your Destination Account
- Select Customer, then Merge
- Tap the search bar and search for the Source Account by name, email, or phone number and select the name.
- Select Confirm and you'll see that the customers were merged successfully.
- All Done!
How to Merge Two Accounts Using Portal
You can also merge two customer records together using Portal.
- Navigate to Customers > Customer List.
- Look up the Destination account that you want to be the main account. Search for the customer by name, phone number or email.
- Click on their profile, then click the green ‘Merge’ button at the bottom of customer details.
- Search for your Source customer. This customer profile will be moved into the Destination account and then be deleted. Once you find the Source account, click the green ‘Merge’ button. Click ‘OK’ on the pop-up that asks you to confirm.
- The two customer profiles are now merged.
As a reminder, the points, lifetime points, wallet balance, and active vouchers from the source account will be added to the destination account. Customer name, date of birth, phone number, email and keychain tag data from the source account will be overridden by the data in the destination account, if the information is different.
