When using unintegrated mobile ordering, you will need to build your menu manually. This guide walks you through the step-by-step process of creating and updating your menus.
Create a Location Group
Step 1: Navigate to the Catalogs Page① Log in to Portal and navigate to Online Ordering > Catalog. |
Step 2: Create Location GroupsLocation groups are designed for 2 purposes:
② Click + CREATE LOCATION GROUP. ③ Type in the name of the location and in the dropdown select the existing location that this group will be tied to.
If you need to make changes to your location group, click 3 dots to the right of the group and select Edit. |
Structure Your Menu
Step 3: Create Your Catalog④ Click on location group and on the following page select + CREATE CATALOG. ⑤ Type in the name for your catalog (ex. Main Menu, Catering Menu, etc.). ⑥ Click Create once done. |
Step 4: Set Up Ordering Hours⑦ Click + Add Time Frame to open the Create Time Frame window.
⑧ Click Create to save your time frame settings, then click Submit again on the main Edit Catalog page to finalize your settings. |
Step 5: Create Menu Categories and SubcategoriesNow that the catalog is created and your timeframes are set, you can begin adding categories to the menu. ⑨ Click + CREATE CATEGORY and type in the name of your category. Click OK to save. ⑩ Click on the newly created category. If you wish to create sub categories, click + ADD CATEGORY and repeat the above steps. To edit, hide or delete a category or subcategory, click on the 3 dots to its right.
Hiding CategoriesClick the 3 dots to the right of the category followed by Hide/Show to launch the Hide Category window. Select the location that it will be hidden for and click Submit. The category will appear greyed out once hidden. To unhide an category you will follow the same steps. Launch the Hide Category window, uncheck the location and Submit. The category will no longer appear greyed out. |
Step 6: Create Menu ItemsAfter creating your categories, you can begin adding the individual items available for purchase within each one. ⑪ Click on the newly created category or subcategory, then click + ADD ITEM. ⑫ A Create Item window will pop up requesting information about the product. Name: Enter the title of the item. Description - Provide a detailed overview of the item (e.g., ingredients, materials, dimensions, or use cases). Anticipate and answer any questions a customer might have. Image - Upload an image of the item. Refer to our guide: Uploading Images to Menu Items Price - Set the base cost for the item. You can add more complex pricing options later using Modifiers (explained below). ⑬ Click Create Item when finished to save your product. To edit an existing item, click on it to reopen the Create Item window. To hide or delete an item, click on the 3 dots to its right.
Hiding ItemsIf an item is no longer in stock at a certain location it can be hidden until it's available again. After launching the Hide Item window (from the 3 dots), select the location that it will be hidden for and click Submit. The item will appear greyed out once hidden. To unhide an item you will follow the same steps. Launch the Hide Item window (from the 3 dots) and uncheck the location and Submit. The item will no longer appear greyed out. |
Create Item Modifiers (Optional)
Step 7: Create Modifier GroupsModifier Groups are collections of adjustments, additions, or customizations - such as sizes, flavors, and special requests - that can be applied to an item. A single modifier group can be used by multiple items, regardless of the category or catalog the item belongs to. Modifier groups can be created in two places: from the Create Item page or from the Modifier Group tab above the catalog: Create Item pageNavigate to a specific product in the catalog by drilling down through categories until you select the item. On the Create Item page, click + ADD MODIFIER GROUP, then + CREATE MODIFIER GROUP to open the Create Modifier Group window.
Modifier Group tab (Catalog Page)At the top of the main Catalog page, select the Modifier Groups tab. On the next page, click + CREATE MODIFIER GROUP to open the Create Modifier Group window. Once you are on the Create Modifier Group window, the steps to create the modifiers will be the same whether you are creating the modifier group from a product page or the catalog page. ⑭ From the Create Modifier Group window, enter in the required details for your new modifier group. Name - The name of your modifier group Description - A description of the modifier group for yourself and the customer Min Selection - Minimum required modifiers Max Selection - Maximum modifiers per item allowed. Cannot be lower than the minimum selection. To only have one, optional modifier you must set the Min to 0 and Max to 1 ⑮ Click + ADD MODIFIER to build out the individual choices within this modifier group. ⑯ Once you are done creating all your modifiers, click Create to save them. |
Adding Modifier Groups to ProductsOnce you've created a modifier group, you can add that group to any product going forward. To do this, drill down to a specific item and click + ADD MODIFIER GROUP to launch the "Choose Modifier Group" window. You will be presented a list of all your modifier groups. Click on the one you want to add to the item and then click Submit to save your changes.

Editing Modifier GroupsModifier groups can be edited from the Modifier Group tab above the catalog. ⑰ At the top of the main Catalog page, select the Modifier Groups tab. ⑱ From the list of modifier groups, click the 3 dots next to the group you wish to change and click Edit. |
Publish Your Catalog
Step 8: Publish Your CatalogOnce a catalog is published, customers can place orders through your mobile app during the menu’s available time frame. You will need to publish your catalog anytime you make a change. From the catalog tab, click Publish. You will be given the choice of publishing the menu right away or scheduling for a later date and time. |
Organizing Your Menu
Don't worry if you created your menu out of order - you can rearrange it at any time.
To reposition your category order, click the 6-dot icon to the left of your category block and drag it to it's new position. If you need to move a category inside another category (create a sub-category), click the 3-dot menu to the right of your category block and select Edit.
