Overview
TapMango web ordering originally required customers to register an account if they wished to place an order. To avoid situations of customers abandoning their order due to the extra effort involved with creating an account, we have introduced a guest checkout option.
Benefits
- Increase in online ordering sales:
- Reduce barriers to completing a transaction
- Retain customers who might otherwise abandon the purchase if required to register
- Improved customer experience:
- Easier process for first time buyers.
- Broader customer base:
- Accommodates different buyer preferences to attract a wider range of customers
What Does it Mean to be a Guest Customer?
If a customer places a guest order, it means the following:
- No points on orders
- No rewards/vouchers/promo codes can be used with the order
- Not available to market to via TapMango campaigns
- Can only pay with credit card
How it Works
The customer will place items in their cart and checkout as normal.
Upon payment, they will required to provide some basic contact information for the order. We will also ask the customer to opt into marketing - this is optional.
Once the order is placed, it’ll come through the POS and Tablet the same way enrolled loyalty orders do. On the tablet, you'll see the customers phone number and the label "Guest" next to their order number:
Reporting
Guest orders and revenue stats are found in three different places in portal:
Dashboard widget - There will be a guest order widget on the dashboard to provide a snapshot of how the feature is performing:
Revenue Boost - Revenue generated from guest orders will be listed as a type of Revenue Boost. The boost type will be called “Guest Mobile Order”:
Order Reports - Merchants will be able to see if an order was a guest order or loyalty order in the ordering reports found in Orders > Orders:
Phone Verification for Guest Checkout
Q: If a loyalty customer is blocked from online ordering, will they be able to place guest orders?
A: No, they will not
Q: If a guest customer wants to sign up for loyalty, what is required of them?
A: They’d need to sign up the same way a new customer would
Q: How can I market to guest customers who have provided consent?
A: We will provide a report of guest customers who have provided consent with their emails and phone numbers. You can export this list and use a channel outside of TapMango to reach out to them. Our campaign engine is only compatible with loyalty customers.
