For information on setting required information see our guide on choosing what basic information is required
Start with the Basics
By default TapMango asks some basic information from your customers.
- Name
- Phone Number
- Date / Month of Birth
What if I Want More?
TapMango also has the capability of adding custom sign up questions. We call these custom fields. Up to 5 custom fields can be added.
How do I set it Up?
To set up custom fields you will need to contact TapMango support and request what questions you'd like.
What Questions Can I ask?
The following custom fields can be added, and can be optional or mandatory:
Open Text
An open text question is just that - your customer can type whatever they want. This is useful for collecting more detailed information or when you have a question that cannot be covered on a predefined list.
Example: An open text box for zip code if you're interested in capturing more detailed demographic information.
Select List
A select list is a list of predefined answers. This would be great if you have a question where you're looking for specific answers only, and want to use these answers for grouping customers using a group filter
Example: If you're a salon owner you could ask customers to pick their hair type from a list.
Child Select List
We can also make a subsequent select list that only has options based on the previous answer.
Example: If you're a pet store owner and want to ask if customers own a cat or a dog, you can have the next question be a list of only dog, or only cat breeds based on how the first question was answered.
Check Box
A check box is just a basic check box. This is ideal if you want customers to opt-in to specific types of promotions you send, or agree to your store's terms and conditions.
Example: If you sell products that are age restricted, you could make a mandatory question I agree I am at least 18 years of age. While you'll still want to check customer IDs you're also forcing every customer signing up to check this box.
Date
A date can be a question. This can be two types. Either a month and day, or a month day and year.
Example: If you own an electronic cigarette shop you might want to ask customers when they started or quit smoking.
