Setting Up Your Discounts to Work with Your Toast Integration

This guide walks you through adding discount mapping to your TapMango rewards and vouchers so they redeem correctly through your Toast integration. 

Your Onboarding Specialist will typically handle this during your initial setup, but you can use this guide to make changes later.

Mapping TapMango Rewards to Toast

Step 1: Navigate to Your Rewards or Vouchers

① Sign into https://portal.tapmango.com

② Navigate to either Rewards or Vouchers from the left-hand menu.

③ Select the reward or voucher you want to add a discount to, then select the Discounts tab.

④ Select Add Discount.

Step 2: Choose Your Integration and Discount Type

⑤ Choose the Toast integration for your location. 

Note: If you have multiple Toast integrations and you can't distinguish which is for your location, contact TapMango Support for assistance. 

⑥ Select the Discount Type followed by the dollar or percentage value of the discount.

⑦ If you select Product Discount (Amount) or Product Discount (Percentage), you will also have the option to select whether this discount can apply to multiple items in a single purchase. 

⑧ Click Save.

TapMango lists a separate integration for each location. You'll need to repeat the above steps above for each location with a Toast register.

Discount Types Available For Toast

Toast offers several discount types. Which one you choose depends on what you want to accomplish.

Simple

A basic discount that doesn't fit one of the specific types below. This adds the discount to the Toast sale as a $0.00 line item - it does not adjust the sale total in Toast.

Why choose this discount?

This is an ideal option if you want to track redemptions of a discount that is too complex to map directly. The discount can be applied to the sale, which will automatically remove the points or voucher from the customer's account once the sale completes. The actual discount value will need to be applied as a seperate action through Toast.

Product Discount (Percentage)

A percentage-based discount limited to a specific Menu Group or item within a Menu Group. TapMango applies the discount to all qualifying items on the sale when set to a menu group. You must enter the GUID (see below) in the Product or Category field under Applies To.

Product Discount (Amount)

A flat dollar discount limited to a specific Menu Group or item within a Menu Group. TapMango applies the discount to all qualifying items on the sale when set to a menu group. You must enter the GUID (see below) in the Product or Category field under Applies To.

Overall Discount (Percentage)

A percentage-based discount that applies to the entire sale. You can not map restrictions to any category or product.

Overall Discount (Amount)

A flat dollar discount that applies to the entire sale. You can not map restrictions to any category or product.

Buy One Get One

A 100% discount that applies when two qualifying items are added to the sale. TapMango applies the discount to the second item. When restricted to a menu group, the discount applies to the lower-value qualifying item.

Additional Notes

• Your discounted item will be completely free. There are no other discount value options (e.g. Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off)
• This discount type only applies to pairs of items. Multi-item bundles (e.g. Buy 2 Get 1, Buy 5 Get 2, etc.) do not apply.

Important: We do not currently support applying discounts to entire menus and we do not support Subgroups.

Getting Toast GUIDs

To use a product or menu group (category) discount type, you'll need the GUID - the unique identifier Toast assigns to all menu groups and items. TapMango can pull this during your initial onboarding, but you can retrieve it yourself at any time.

Step 1: Find Your Menu Group or Item in Toast

① Sign into your Toast account at https://www.toasttab.com/login

② Navigate to the Menu section, then select Edit Menus.

③ Select the menu your menu group or item is in.

④ Under Groups, select the menu group.

Step 2: Copy the GUID

⑤ In the Basic section, locate the GUID field. Copy the alphanumeric string - for example: ab995a4f-3c1f-47ab-aa1e-b4aa1c56b5ac

⑥ If you need the GUID for a specific item rather than a menu group, go one level deeper to Items, select the item, and find the GUID in the same spot.

The example below shows how to retrieve the GUID for a menu group - in this case, the Cha-Signature group under the Blended Drinks menu - to use in the Category field in TapMango.
